We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Tourist Guide to join our hospitality team in Anand, the celebrated “Milk Capital of India.” As the primary storyteller for visitors to this revolutionary hub, you will be responsible for bringing to life the legacy of the White Revolution, the agricultural heritage of the Charotar region, and the inspiring lives of India’s visionary leaders through captivating narratives and exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Guided Tours: Lead individuals and groups through iconic sites such as the Amul Dairy Museum, the state-of-the-art Amul Chocolate Factory in Mogar, and the high-tech processing units that feed a nation.
- Storytelling: Provide deep insights into the life of Dr. Verghese Kurien, the cooperative genius of Tribhuvandas Patel, and the legendary political legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at his ancestral home in Karamsad.
- Excursion Management: Coordinate and lead day trips to nearby landmarks like the Vadtal Swaminarayan Temple, the educational sanctuary of Vallabh Vidyanagar, or the serene banks of the Mahi River.
- Safety & Logistics: Ensure the safety of all tourists, manage transportation between the dairy plants and heritage sites, and handle bookings for the Amul plant visits and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) campus.
- Cultural Ambassadorship: Educate guests on the “Charotari” way of life, from the significance of the lush tobacco and banana plantations to the vibrant Garba celebrations at Shastri Maidan.
- Customization: Tailor itineraries for a diverse audience, ranging from international dairy experts and management students (visiting IRMA) to spiritual pilgrims and history buffs.
Qualifications
- License: Possession of a valid Tourist Guide License (accredited by Gujarat Tourism / TCGL) is highly preferred.
- Language: Fluency in English and Gujarati is essential; the ability to speak Hindi and foreign languages is a major plus due to the high volume of international dairy delegates.
- Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of the White Revolution (Operation Flood) history, rural management principles, and the unique architecture of the Charotar “Vads.”
- Communication: Exceptional public speaking skills with the ability to translate complex cooperative models into engaging human stories.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to navigate large industrial complexes and the traditional narrow lanes of nearby Karamsad in warm weather.
Preferred Skills
- Technical Familiarity: A basic understanding of dairy technology and cooperative economics to answer specialized guest queries.
- Photography: Ability to assist guests in capturing the iconic Amul iconography or the scenic, tree-lined avenues of Vallabh Vidyanagar.
- Local Networking: Strong connections with rural cooperatives, local handicraft artisans, and authentic food spots serving regional Kathiyawadi and Charotari cuisine.
Benefits
- Unique Environment: Work at the intersection of a global industrial revolution and traditional rural charm.
- Growth Opportunities: Engage with high-profile international visitors, researchers, and dignitaries visiting the “Anand Model” of development.
- Impact: Be the face of the city that showed the world the power of unity and cooperation.
